Pastor Lee and Gidget AtheyDon't Eat Watermelon Seeds

Growing up, I am sure you must have heard the old wives tale that if you ate watermelon seeds you could wind up with a watermelon in your stomach. Hopefully, now you know that is not true. Don't Eat Watermelon Seeds

Or maybe you were told that if you ate your fingernails, you would wind up with a great ball of fingernails in your stomach. Of course, it is not good to eat your fingernails but not for that reason.

But were you ever told not to eat paper? Our passage today comes from Ezekiel 3:1-4. Notice what he was required to do from the Lord.

1 The voice said to me, “Son of man, eat what I am giving you—eat this scroll! Then go and give its message to the people of Israel.” 2 So I opened my mouth, and he fed me the scroll. 3 “Fill your stomach with this,” he said. And when I ate it, it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth. 4 Then he said, “Son of man, go to the people of Israel and give them my messages.

Thankfully, this was a vision Ezekiel had from God so I don’t think he literally ate the paper or scroll. But the message here is clear to us all. God wants us to do more than give a casual look at His Word.

God wants us to chew it over and over again in our minds. He wants us to meditate on His Word. If we do, we will find out it will not only be good for us but it will be sweet as honey.

My Life Application Bible says, “If you digest God’s Word, you will find that not only will it make you stronger in your faith, but its wisdom will sweeten your life.”

My prayer is that you are feeding on God’s Word every day, and growing stronger in your faith.

Let us pray!

Blessings,
