Pastor Lee and Gidget AtheyThe Thing about Soccer Sprints

Many decades ago, I played soccer for a coach that always ended our practices by making us run. As we would come around the last lap, he would be yelling at us to finish strong. He wanted us to go all out at the very end. Soccer Sprints

As I pushed myself to run as hard as I could while my heart was pounding and my breathing was hard. My main thought was once I got to the end, it was recovery and rest time.

Recovery meant I was going to take another lap of walking while my heart slowed. Oh, that would feel so good.

Right now, many of us are in a brutally painful season. But hold on a season of recovery and rest lies ahead. Listen to what Peter told the church,

“In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.”
1 Peter 5:10

In seasons of struggle, there comes season of recovery and rest. We can look forward to a time of recovery and rest that lies ahead.

Let us pray!

Blessings,

Pastor Lee & Gidget Athey
