One of the most famous sports quotes of all times comes from the boxer Mike Tyson who once said, “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”
We all have a good plan until something goes wrong or we face opposition. I am always amazed when I watch my team practice shots before a basketball game in warm ups. They are making most of their shots and they look unstoppable.
But when they face opposition all of a sudden their shooting percentage goes way down. What you do when you face opposition often determines whether you win or lose.
Let me read you a passage from I Thess. 2:2
You know how badly we had been treated at Philippi just before we came to you and how much we suffered there. Yet our God gave us the courage to declare his Good News to you boldly, in spite of great opposition.
Look so many times when we try to do God’s will we have faced opposition. Do we quit or do we persevere through? Let me remind you that with Christ you are an overcomer. God will bring you through any opposition you face.
