Pastor Lee and Gidget Athey Praise the Hurt Away

Why am I so discouraged? Why so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again – my Savior and my God!
(Psalm 42:11) Praise the hurt away

Have you ever just woken up in a bad mood? You don’t know, but you are just upset at everything. Nothing seems to lift your spirit.

I am for the most part an optimistic person. But there are days where I don’t know why but I am just in a bad mood. I have come to realize when that happens to me, I am in desperate need to get my praise back.

This psalm was written by David, when he was fleeing from King Saul and was in hiding. The hiding and the isolation was just getting to him. He had done nothing wrong and yet he was having to hide for his life from a very jealous man.

Some days were harder than others. But David found the key to getting his hope back. The key was to stop and worship his God. It is amazing how quickly singing and worshipping God will break your bad mood and restore your hope.

So the next time the devil comes to steal your joy, get your praise on and raise a hallelujah in the presence of your enemies!

Let us pray!

Blessings,

Pastor Lee & Gidget Athey
