Listen to the words of Moses . . .
I call Heaven and Earth to witness, against you today: I place before you LIFE and DEATH, BLESSING and CURSE. Choose life so that you and your children will live. (Deut. 30:19)
1,500 years before Christ came, Moses led a group of weary, tired people toward the promised land. It had been their dream for years. Now, their goal was soon to be a reality.
And yet, God sets before them what seems to be a no brainer decision. He says, “Choose life or death, blessings or curses.” Well, it seems obvious that you would choose life and blessings, who wants death and curses. But God was saying a little more than that. God was saying walk with me and follow my ways and you will live and be blessed.
I feel much like Israel our country will soon be coming out of a time of captivity too. The question is what will we do with our new freedom? Will we choose to follow God and walk with Him or will we choose to forget God and go back to our old lives? This pandemic has created a spiritual hunger in our country, but what will happen when we regain our freedoms. Pray with me that we will choose life and blessings over death and curses.
