Pastor Lee and Gidget AtheyChameleons

Do you know what makes the chameleon so special? It is not just its ability to change colors. Chameleons have telephoto eyes. Sunflowers

Recently it was discovered that Chameleons have eyes that work like the telephoto lens on a camera. That requires both a positive and negative lens. All other animals in the world only have a positive convex lens.

The Chameleons are the first animals known to also have a negative convex lens. The two lens combine to give the Chameleons super-vision. That is why bugs don’t have a chance against their tongues.

Being able to see in ways others can’t is a huge advantage in life. Elijah could see what others could not see. In II Kings 6, we are told the Arameans were trying to attack Israel and every time they laid a trap for Israel, God would tell Elijah about it who then would tell the King of Israel. They could not trap Israel. They found out it was Elijah who knew their plans.

So Arameans decided to get rid of Elijah. They surrounded them at the city of Dothan. Elijah’s servant was afraid. In II Kings 6 we read:

16 “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” 17 Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

May we have eyes to see beyond our fears and trust a God who is always there. I love the song we sing in church: The God of Angel Armies:

Whom shall I fear
I know who goes before me
I know who stands behind
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side
The one who reigns forever
He is a friend of mine
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side

Let us pray!

Blessings,
