A Letter from Pastor Lee and Gidget
March, 2020
Services Postponed until Palm Sunday, April 5th.
There is nothing I love more than getting together with you and worshipping
Jesus Christ. Every time we do, I am encouraged by your worship, your prayers,
and our time together in the Word of God. I know you love Jesus and our church
as much as I do.
I want to be able to gather together for many years to come. For that to take
place, we do not want to put others at risk; there are many who are in the high
risk category to the Coronavirus. With the urging of our national, state, and
local officials we are going to cancel our services and gatherings. We will meet
again in two Sundays, on Palm Sunday, April 5th. Of course, if anything changes,
we will update you as soon as a decision is made.
Now, this does not stop the church. As we have been studying on Wednesday
nights, the church is unstoppable. This did not catch God by surprise. As a
matter of fact, God will take what was meant for our harm and use it for our
good. I believe that our church will come through this stronger than before.
What will our plans be moving forward?
I will do a devotional video each day that I will put on my Facebook and our
church Facebook pages. There we can interact with the Word of God together and
share thoughts and prayer needs. If you have personal prayer needs, feel free to
call, text, or message me. Carolyn will still operate our prayer chain. If you
would like to be a part of that, please let her or me know.
But if you are not on Facebook or would rather me send you a text message with
the devotional scripture and the bullet points, I will be glad to do so. Just
text me and let me know.
What can I do during this time?
1. Pray. There is much to pray about. Pray for our government leaders both
nationally and at local levels. Pray for doctors, nurses, medical team and
research. Pray for those who have been infected by the virus. Pray for the
church, our missionaries, your pastor and your leaders.
2. Check on each other. Keep in contact through phone calls, text messages, and
messenger. We need to watch out for each other especially those who are
vulnerable to this virus. They made need someone to pick up their medicines or
groceries.
3. Give. Your offerings and tithes will matter now just as they have in the
past. Our church runs much like your home except the bills are much larger. We
will still have to pay the power, water, phone, loan payments and much more. You
can send your offerings to Easley First Assembly of God, P.O. Box 329, Easley,
SC 29641. Our goal is to set up a way you can give through Paypal by Sunday on
our church website at www.firstassemblyofgodeasley.org.
I want you to know just because we will not be having services for this season
doesn’t mean I am not available. Feel free to call, text, or message me. I will
still be available to meet with you and pray with you. I will continue to lift
you and your family up in prayer. God is going to bring us through this stronger
than we were before. I really believe that.
Blessings,
Pastor Lee & Gidget Athey
